GORDON STRACHAN – JUST GET ON WITH IT

By Mal Content

While Celtic were maintaining our League Championship challenge with a 3-0 win over Gretna at the Almondvale Stadium, Livingston, this afternoon, the Huns were no doubt increasing their pressure on the SPL to extend the League season in order to assist the Evil Empire's aspirations by easing their fixture congestion.

Last night, the Huns' chief executive Martin Bain admitted the Huns would prefer to cheat to win the SPL, after he publicly stated it is the Huns' “preference to extend the season” to accommodate their fixture congestion.

Martin Bain said: “Why would we want to play eight games in four days? Our preference is to extend the season if it comes to that.”

However, Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell has stated that Celtic would strongly oppose an extension to the League season in order to assist the Huns and that an extension would threaten the integrity of the competition.

On Friday, Peter Lawwell said: “Clearly, an extension is something which we would be strongly opposed to, as it would further inconvenience supporters and could have a significant effect on the integrity of the competition.”

Having watched Scott McDonald, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and substitute Georgios Samaras score the goals in Celtic's 3-0 win over Gretna, Gordon Strachan entered the debate about the Huns' preference to cheat by changing the rulebook to assist their ambitions.

Asked about the Huns wanting to extend the SPL season, Gordon Strachan commented: “In 1983 at Aberdeen, Willie Miller and Alex McLeish played about 73 games and I don't think we extended the League.”

Gordon Strachan added: “We got a good season out of it so we would advocate just getting on with it.”
