CELTIC SHORTS – THOMAS GRAVESEN, SHUNSUKE NAKAMURA AND MAKING NOISE FOR THE BHOYS
By Trialist
Thomas Gravesen's agent has promised / threatened / warned (delete as applicable) that the midfielder could return to Celtic this summer after his less-than-impressive season-long loan spell at Everton.
John Sivebaek has revealed that the former Great Dane, who has started only three games for Everton, has at the moment no other alternatives but to return to Celtic, where his solitary season in the Hoops was as frustrating as it was disappointing.
Sivebaek said of Celtic's £2million midfield enigma from Real Madrid: “There haven't been any approaches for him and, right now, I don't think Thomas is in a position to just choose a club.”
Sivebaek continued: “He hasn't played a lot this season and that doesn't make things any easier for us. There were rumours in the press about Blackburn Rovers making an offer, but I certainly didn't speak with them.”
Sivebaek added: “We will hold talks with Celtic because, for the moment, we do not know what the future is. But, as far I can see, at this stage the only option for him is to go back to Glasgow and try to get back into the team.”
Meanwhile, Shunsuke Nakamura has vowed that he'll be fit and available for the Celtic Cause in Sunday's all-important Celtic versus the Huns League match at Celtic Park.
The Japanese genius, and scorer of one of the best ever Celtic goals against the Huns in our 2-1 humping of Cheats FC nine days ago, reportedly injured his ankle at training in an aerial joust with Barry Robson earlier this week.
Subsequently, a protective strapping was wrapped around Shunsuke Nakamura's injured ankle.
However, Naka is adamant he will be available for the crucial fixture against the Huns, who trail Celtic by two points in the League, though TFOD has three games in hand.
Naka said: “I will probably play with the strapping and as long as I have that I'll be fine.”
At the time of scribbling, we await definite news about the fitness and availability of the injured quartet of Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (leg knock), Lee Naylor (neck injury), Paul Hartley (hamstring) and Andreas Hinkel (hamstring).
Finally, Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell has called for the Faithful to ‘make some noise for the Bhoys' in support of the Hoops in Sunday's crunch match against the Huns, when Celtic can, with a win, increase our League advantage to five points and intensify the pressure on TFOD.
Peter Lawwell said: “I would like to thank our supporters for the continued positive backing which they have given the Club during the course of the season.”
Lawwell continued: “Our supporters have given the team tremendous backing home and away domestically and have obviously made Celtic Park one of the most formidable venues in Europe, by generating such a wonderful atmosphere during our Champions League matches this season.”
Lawwell added: “While we know that this match will be another very difficult one, the Manager, the team and backroom staff are continuing to fight strongly and I know they are very grateful for the great backing which you the fans continue to give them. Sunday will be another match when we will need your great support.”
However, the Celtic Chief Executive also issued a plea for sanity after missiles were thrown on the pitch by both Celtic fans and Huns fans during Celtic's 2-1 humping of the Huns on the 16th April.
Lawwell said: “While our support at the last Celtic v Rangers match was again incredible, we have received reports of objects being thrown on to the pitch from both sets of supporters.”
Lawwell continued: “Clearly this is something which Celtic as a Club finds completely unacceptable and we are doing all we can to identify those responsible. We will continue to treat this with great seriousness should it occur again.”
Lawwell added: “The overwhelming majority of supporters continue to back Celtic in a way which we are very proud of - fans who demonstrate time and time again, positive backing for their team. Let's make sure we do this again on Sunday. Thank you once again for your fantastic support.”
So make some noise for the Bhoys, roar Celtic to what could be a Championship-defining victory, but do not react to the Huns however offensive “Scotland's Shame” are and however much you detest that odious wee bassa Nacho Novo.
