THE CELTIC POET – AS THE FAITHFUL GATHER AT PARADISE

The Celtic Poet, Daniel McDonagh pays tribute in verse to Celtic's 3-2 humping of the Huns.

AS THE FAITHFUL GATHER AT PARADISE

By Daniel McDonagh

As the Faithful Gather at Paradise
The Glasgow sun was proudly shining
While every banner was on display,
As the faithful gathered at Paradise
To experience football played, the Celtic Way.

Scott McDonald's first goal had us dancing,
We leapt with joy from our seats.
But we growled with dissatisfaction,
As we watched the Rangers take the lead.

But we know God has a plan for the Celtic,
Though, this year it has been hard to find.
But McDonald found the ball placed perfectly at his feet
And he levelled the score before half-time.

Pandemonium erupted around Celtic Park,
The Rangers fans, they stood in a daze.
The soul of Celtic rose from despair,
There was another 45 minutes to play.

The sound of Celtic could be heard from afar,
A battle cry for the angels to cheer.
As we sang in harmony every song and ballad
That in heaven, Brother Walfrid could hear.

The men in those green and white hoops,
Rallied, fought and persevered.
As the Celtic were awarded a penalty kick,
That Barry Robson battered home, goal number three.

The Holy Spirit had descended on Glasgow Celtic,
That brought determination, faith and hope.
As Artur Boruc celebrated the victory
In a t-shirt that read: God Bless The Pope.
