ET TU MUTU – FORZA VIOLA
By Trialist
This evening many in Timdom will sink a few Peronis or perhaps a glass or several of Chianti whilst cheering on Fiorentina in the Viola's UEFA Cup semi-final second leg against the Huns in Florence.
F*ck the coefficient. We wouldnae gee the Huns a throw-in.
Needless to say, the Huns have taken a bit of a (deserved) pummelling for their unique style of football, or “Anti-Football,” as Lionel Messi described the Wattienaccio's ten-men-behind-the-ball-boys defensive system, with all-out attack as likely as Nacho Novo winning a call up to the Spanish national squad.
Celtic's Georgios Samaras also ridiculed the Huns, saying they “don't try to play football”.
And now Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu is the latest opponent of the Huns to slaughter Anti-Football FC as being “ugly”.
After the UEFA Cup semi-final first leg at Ipox finished 0-0 thanks to the Huns digging in like sheep ticks and the Huns being as attack-minded as Switzerland, Adrian Mutu commented: “We didn't expect Rangers to be like that, to defend so much. We thought as the home team they would try to attack, but this is their football and we must adapt.”
Mutu continued: “I've never seen a team play like that. I thought they would maybe want to make more of a spectacle for their fans, but that was an ugly game. They were defending all the time and I just hope we see a bit more attacking in the next game.”
Mutu added: “I'd like to see them contribute more spectacular football in the return on Thursday.”
Wouldnae bet on Anti-Football FC attacking too much, Adrian, though no doubt the Hunnish hordes will leave their “culturally traditional” mark on Florence.
