SKIPPY – WINNING IS ALL THAT MATTERS

By The Lone Gunman

Goal-scoring Hoops hero Scott McDonald insists winning is all that matters, after Celtic battled back from a one-goal deficit to Motherwell at Fir Park this afternoon to record a vital 2-1 win.

This afternoon, the Celtic striker scored his 30th goal of the season for the Hoops, Skippy heading home a Shunsuke Nakamura cross in the 61st minute, his equaliser coming merely seventy seconds after Chris Porter's header had opened the scoring for Motherwell.

Celtic substitute Georgios Samaras then completed the Celtic fight-back in the 79th minute, when the Greek international headed in a Barry Robson corner kick, thereby winning Celtic all three precious SPL points to propel the Hoops eight points clear of the Huns.

And though Celtic's 2-1 victory over Motherwell was an ugly win, Scott McDonald insists winning is all that matters for Celtic to have any chance of retaining the SPL Championship.

Scott McDonald said: “Results are all that matter. If anyone says we didn't deserve to win it, I couldn't really care less. It doesn't really matter anymore. It gets us a little bit closer to the end.”

Skippy explained: “Motherwell were right up for it, right in our faces and got a few of us upset. But we managed to calm ourselves down. We were a bit frustrated going in at half-time.

Skippy continued: “They probably had the better patches of the game, but the second half was a lot better. We went one down but we got one as soon as possible and that deflates them a wee bit.”

Skippy added: “It was a massive game, anything less than a win would have ended our title hopes. It was a terrific, battling performance. Motherwell stuck to their guns and made it difficult for us, but in the end, we ground it out.”

With Celtic now having two League matches remaining, the Hoops have an eight-point advantage over the Huns, who have six matches remaining.

Squeaky bum time.
