BORUC BOOST FOR BHOYS
By Trialist
Celtic have been told that Artur Boruc has been excused international duties with Poland and will be available for the Celtic Cause against Dundee United at Tannadice on Thursday 22nd May. A boost for the Bhoys.
Because the SPL was extended from Sunday 18th May to Thursday 22nd May, to assist the Huns' clearing up of their self-inflicted fixture congestion, a number of Celtic players had a Club versus country conflict.
It has already been reported that Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Georgios Samaras have been excused international duties with Holland and Greece respectively in order to fight for the Celtic Cause on the final day of the SPL season.
And now Artur Boruc has been given permission to delay his joining up with Poland as Leo Beenhakker's squad begins preparation for Euro 2008 on the 19th May.
Leo Beenhakker explained: “I received a letter from Celtic making me aware the SPL season has been extended because Rangers have reached the UEFA Cup Final and of course I am sympathetic.”
Leo Beenhakker continued: “I was once a club boss and know how tough it is. You need your best players for all the key games and Artur is certainly an important one for Celtic. I will also allow Tomasz Kuszczak to stay with Manchester United until after the Champions League Final.”
Leo Beenhakker added: “ The only thing I'd ask Celtic is that they release Artur if the title has been decided before the last day.”
Celtic MUST defeat Hibs on Sunday at Celtic Park to ensure the SPL title race continues to the final day of the season.
