THE INCONSISTENCIES OF CHICK YOUNG

By Mal Content

It really is quite remarkable that a St Mirren fan, Chick Young, has become so hot and bothered by the SPL's decision not to extend the League season FOR A SECOND TIME to assist the Huns' self-inflicted fixture congestion and to aid the Huns' plans for world domination.

A word in your shell-like, Chick: St Mirren play at Love Street, Paisley, which is near the airport that you use when jetting out with Rangers.

In his latest PR disaster for the BBC website, Chick Young is furious – perma-rage, even – as he lambasts the SPL.

Chick rants in his BBC website column, or Murray's View as it should be called:

“It is time, my friends, to put a bomb under the administration of our game. Let's blow it to smithereens and start all over again.

The Scottish Premier League, who hijacked the top-level of football in this country and promised a golden dawn, have instead led us to a place as dark as the midnight hour. They could not find a new world with the help of Christopher Columbus.

Sir David Murray is right. The rest of the world must be in stitches at us. We are the Morecambe and Wise of the European game.

It's the Scottish way. Applaud Rangers for what they have done, but help them? You have to be joking.

This is the equivalent of putting on Jimmy Shand records at a ceilidh and nailing the cheuchters' feet to the floor. It's that cruel.

They only asked for the postponement of one fixture.”

In common with most of the Chairman's friends in the media (Winalot journalists and Laptop Loyalists who are in Murray's pocket), Chick offers no solutions other than to rage that the League should have been extended to accommodate the Huns, ease their self-inflicted fixture congestion and assist them to the winning of the UEFA Cup and the SPL Championship.

Not a word about cheating, financial hardships for clubs and fans alike, the SFA's whoring of the Scottish Cup Final, Queen Of The South's plight and the League's credibility, honesty, integrity, etc. And certainly not a word from Chick about St Mirren, whose players have been financially compromised by the SPL's decision to extend the League from Sunday 18th May to Thursday 22nd May.

I'd have thought you might have cared about your beloved Paisley Buddies, Chick.

Chick Young's Rangers views are all the more remarkable given the comment he made in 2003 when Celtic lobbied Rangers and the SPL to have the Rangers versus Celtic League match at Ipox rescheduled.

You will remember vividly, dear reader, that Rangers and the SPL rejected Celtic's request and consequently we returned from the UEFA Cup semi-final against Boavista to play the Huns at Ipox LESS THAN 48 HOURS after the final whistle in Portugal.

Chick's view in 2003?

“Celtic should get on with it more gracefully now.”
