A BHOYS DOUBLE
By Trialist
Congratulations to Gordon Strachan, who was today named the SPL's Manager Of The Month for April, and to Barry Robson, who was today named the SPL's Player Of The Month for April. A Bhoys' Double.
The Ginja Ninja has guided Celtic to five League wins in a row, thereby to a four-point lead at the SPL summit, though the Huns have four matches remaining against our two.
Celtic's triumphs during the period have been a 4-1 win against Motherwell at Fir Park, a 2-1 humping of the Huns at Celtic Park, a 1-0 win over Aberdeen at Celtic Park and a 3-2 Huns-skelping at Celtic Park. The Hoops have begun May with a 2-1 win at Fir Park against Motherwell.
However, the VERY major blot in Gordon Strachan's April copybook is the 1-0 defeat to Motherwell at Celtic Park on the 5th April, which has the potential to be a disastrous defeat if Celtic fail to win the League Championship for the third season in a row.
During the last month, Barry Robson has been in outstanding form for Celtic, the highlight undoubtedly being the Celtic midfielder's match-winning goal against the Huns in our 3-2 victory on the 27th April.
Barry netted the all-important goal from a 70th minute penalty kick for Celtic.
Gordon Strachan said of Barry Robson's influence: “Barry has re-energised us in a way in his own basic way of doing it. People have taken a lead from him and Paul Hartley in terms of tempo and drive.”
Gordon Strachan added: “He can be really pleased with himself and his overall game in recent months. Barry's probably helped some players recharge the batteries.”
It has to be said, however, that these baubles will be worthless if Celtic do not win the League Championship.
