CELTIC SHORTS – ROBBED BLIND, INTERNATIONAL BHOYS AND GEORGIOS SAMARAS
So, crimes aplenty in Scottish football today, as the Reverend Mike McCurry robs Dundee United of a result at Ipox against the Huns, thereby denying the Arabs of potentially millions of quid as a consequence of their failure to qualify for the UEFA Cup.
The woeful whistler, who has been accused of being incompetent or dishonest, may also have cost Celtic £10million, the guaranteed bounty from automatic Champions League qualification for this season's SPL Champions.
Had the Huns dropped points today – and but for McCurry's blatant blunders this afternoon at Ipox, they surely would have – then Celtic would now be in control of our own Championship destiny, Celtic wins against Hibernian and Dundee United guaranteeing the Hoops retain the title of Champions.
And we also learn that Gordon Strachan's house in Bothwell, Lanarkshire was robbed in midweek while he and his wife Lesley were sound asleep upstairs.
Gordon Strachan commented: “I'm sleeping too well. It will be self explanatory in a wee while, I'm sure, but I'm sleeping too well. Trust me.”
Gordon Strachan added: “You might fight out what I'm talking about a wee bit later on.”
After the disgraceful farce at Ipox this afternoon, Police should look no further than Mike McCurry, as the rank-rotten referee may have robbed Gordon Strachan and Celtic of three League Championships in a row.
Meanwhile, Gordon Strachan has revealed that Scott McDonald and Shunsuke Nakamura have joined Artur Boruc and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink in being excused from international duties and therefore being available for the Celtic Cause against Dundee United on Thursday 22nd May.
However, the Celtic Manager also revealed he is still waiting for confirmation that Greece will excuse Georgios Samaras for the final League match of the extended season.
Gordon Strachan said: “I've just got information through from the Australians and it won't be a problem for Scott McDonald.”
Gordon Strachan added: “Shunsuke Nakamura will be okay as well and we're just waiting for Georgios Samaras.”
And speaking of Georgios Samaras, who is on loan at the Hoops from Manchester City, the Celtic Manager has stated that nothing has been settled with regards to the 23-year old striker's future.
It has been reported that Celtic have a £2.5million to £3million first refusal on Georgios Samaras to make the transfer permanent, while the striker has insisted he will not return to Manchester City and would prefer to remain at Celtic, if he is a first choice striker.
Gordon Strachan commented on Georgios Samaras' future: “You'd have to ask Sammy.”
Gordon Strachan continued: “Everybody is asking me but it needs to be mutual. If one side doesn't fancy it, you have a problem.”
Gordon Strachan added: “At the moment, he looks like a happy bunny. He seems to be enjoying his training and he's only a young man.”
