Celtic author, historian and Keep The Faith columnist David Potter has a new book available for Timdom's delight –‘Jimmy Delaney: The Stuff Of Legend'.
‘Jimmy Delaney: The Stuff Of Legend' is David's latest masterpiece and details the life and football career of Celtic Legend, Jimmy Delaney, whose grandson John Kennedy plays for the Hoops.
‘Jimmy Delaney: The Stuff Of Legend' is available from Celtic Retail and all good bookshops (and probably some pish bookshops an' a') and is published by The Breedon Books Publishing Company Limited.
‘Jimmy Delaney: The Stuff Of Legend' is priced at £16.99 and is A MUST READ FOR TIMDOM.
David explains ‘Jimmy Delaney: The Stuff Of Legend': “Jimmy Delaney is unique in world football in that he won three Cup-winners' medals in three different countries in three different decades.
He won the Scottish Cup with Celtic before World War Two, the English Cup with Manchester United immediately after the war and the Irish Cup with Derry City in the 1950s.
He also won 13 caps for Scotland.
This book details all Jimmy Delaney's achievements. It also details the horrendous injury that he suffered on the eve of World War Two and the family tragedy that came his way.
There is also an account of his famous goal in the Victory International of 1946 which lit up all of Scotland .
In all, Jimmy played for seven clubs in a career which lasted from 1933-1957.
He was renowned for good sportsmanship and remained a humble man from the small village of Cleland in Lanarkshire.
Jimmy's grandson John Kennedy currently plays for Celtic.”
With Christmas a-coming and the goose getting fatter by the day, we recommend ‘Jimmy Delaney: The Stuff Of Legend' for Christmas stockings everywhere – especially your own.
